A long-term EU-Africa research and innovation partnership on food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture (LEAP-Agri) is a joint Europe Africa Research and Innovation (R&I) initiative related to Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA).
30 partners, including 24 Ministries and Funding Agencies (Group of Funders) from 18 European and African countries, decided to join their forces and funding to build an ERA-Net Cofund project with a financial support of the European Commission.
Specific objectives of the project are: launching activities as the identification and test of innovative instruments for alignment and collaboration in research, innovation, capacity strengthening and infrastructure development; the communication and dissemination of results emerging from LEAP-AGRI activities; the definition of a joint Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda in the FNSSA domain and the consultation and liaison with relevant stakeholder communities, including research, the private sector, civil-society organizations and governments in Europe and Africa.
ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche, FRANCE) and MoEst (Ministry of Education Science and Technology, KENYA), who coordinate LEAP-Agri, and WP5 Co-Leaders CIHEAM Bari, Italy and MHESR, Egypt are organizing a matchmaking event on 15 and 16 December 2021, from 9:30 to 12:30 (CET).
