This Conference, sponsored by OCP and Arab Potash, is organized by Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) and will prompt participants and their institutions to reflect on their current practices and knowledge. It is a unique platform to exchange opinions and views between policy makers, Agriculture researchers, and fertilizer producers.
Dr. Noureddin Driouech, CIHEAM Bari Researcher and Coordinator of CIHEAM Bari Alumni Network (FTN), is serving as an invited keynote speaker with a contribution entitled "Mediterranean region: soil fertility challenges and opportunities, case of #ACLIMAS demonstration research project".
This seminar is also the first meeting between agricultural experts and fertilizers manufacturers to identify future needs in the shed of different challenges. It is further an enabling opportunity to capitalize distinguished existing experiences, allowing participants to make use of such distinctive expertise and develop regional strategy for fertilizer practices, management and industry as well as to interact with key stakeholders and foreign experts.
This initiative comes in an increasingly challenging context for the fertilizer industry, challenges facing a dynamic evolution of soils under pressure of agricultural production more and more intense. The aim of this meeting is to bring together soil fertility researchers on one side, decision makers and fertilizer producers on the other. This would allow discussion of the current state of soil fertility research as well as the solutions developed by fertilizer producers to meet the growing need for fertilizer as nutrient solution more than a commodity.
The conference will gather different Academic, Research institutions and Agriculture Ministries, from MENA region including countries : Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan Morocco, Oman Tunisia Turkey Saudi Arabia , Sudan, UAE and International Organization such as Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM Bari Italy) and ICARDA.
