Project Summary

Short description

The project was in line with the Agriculture Growth Program of Ethiopia aimed at  increasing farms’ productivity and commercialization in the horticultural sector. In particular, its aim was to strengthen the capacities of territorial agricultural services to improve horticultural farms’ productivity and market linkages in selected woredas.

Main Results


Assets and staff capacities  of local authorities have been improved for delivering services to smallholder farmers in horticulture in 4 Ethiopian districts.

A wide range of horticultural technologies have been adapted and diffused among a farmers’ community wider than 25000 units.

7 small scale irrigation schemes have been developed and upgraded for improving access to water to a community of around 1000 households.

4 farmers’ cooperatives of horticultural fresh products of and 4 seed producers farmers’ groups have been established, equipped with offices and storehouses, and linked with markets.
